The Chinatown Tour



In April 2022, jason chu and Alan Z finally had the chance to bring their Face Value project on the road. The goal for the tour was to update the visual identity of Face Value while referencing the same inspiration of Asian American protest politics that we built the project around, and create a new key visual specific to the shows.


I also collaborated with video artist Femi Olatunji to create backdrops for the headlining performance - ten visuals representing the message of each song on the set list. References were made to historical episodes like the Chinese Exclusion Act, animated portrayals of Asian stories, food and restaurant culture, and colorism. 


2400+ people attended all dates across the tour, which was free for the public thanks to sponsorship from the Organization of Chinese Americans. Stops included shows in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Delaware, and Pittsburgh.
